I notice adding mousse to gel does lead to a softer hold.

I almost forgot; if you want to get a better ponytail you should split the hair in 3 sections and pull each section up into pony position. Then when the hair drops nobody can see that you had to section it off. I hope you understand what I mean 🤦‍♀️. It’s what really helped me

I’m just now coming out of the awkward phase and it was a STRUGGLE so I felt this!! My go to was a wash and go and if I was going out, I would slick it back and slap a ponytail on it 🙃😂

Yes girl! Having short hair is a job, and you have to work harder to execute the perfect style. But once you get the hang of it, you’ll be so proud of yourself. I transitioned 2 years ago from 2 things: 1- I had to train my hair to express itself curl pattern, and that took 1year and 8 months 2- once I did the big chop at 8 months my hair was too short to fit in a ponytail and I live by ponytails 😂😂😂. But I’m currently about the same length as you, and I’m doing this challenge with you, and the only difference for me is that finally in my wash and go’s I can finally get the perfect ponytail. This journey has been especially powerful, upbuilding as an African American woman! I no longer say “Spanish people have the “good” hair”. All women can have good hair depending on how you treat it. I’ve never been this happy or this confident, and it’s thanks to women like you who have taught me how to love on my thick curls!! 🥹, so thank you! @NaturalReign

The thing about short medium and long is that shoulder length hair in some areas of the black community is considered long when it is actually short maybe tip toeing into medium length.

Okay ima try! My hair is currently colored so I definitely need that protein treatment and deep conditioner. Only thing ima have a hard time with is protective styles with adding hair! Ima try though!! I really want to see my hair waist length!!! I normally get stuck at bra strap length.

Since you are on a hair growth journey, would you possibly think about doing a series on trying out the Tightly Curly method by Teri Laflesh? It’s an older method, but I would love to see it done in modern times, especially since you just big chopped 💕

Can you try a flat twist? Or a 3 strand twist? I think that would be cute and it wl stretch the hair at the same time. I can’t lie I haven’t worn mine out yet i need a little more hang time. Im wearing buns for now or wigs 😔 y’all don’t judge me

I can definitely understand the disappointment. I cut my hair and got a fade in 2022, 2023 ya girl was growing back, but it felt so awkward to me so I kept covering it with braids and now this year it’s to the length that I’ve been wanting and waiting for. I say all that to say, it’s gonna come and as much as I can say omg you got this, sometimes some things can be a little sucky, but it’s only temporary

Your current length is similar to mine and I refer to my hair as short; either way this length is shorter or “short” especially compared to your previous hair length. I love your content, and love how you speak your hair; that has really helped me fall back in love with my own. ❤

I’ve been wearing my hair out with no added hair. Wash my hair once a week, and moisturize 3 days post-wash day. My hair is so healthy and my coils are gorgeous. I’ve grown confident in wearing my hair out!! This challenge has been fun.

Girl right because I’ve been black since mid May n I’m trying my hardest not to color it nomore I’m growing it out I really got bout 4 inches of curls permed it n most of it stripped off so in back to my pixie cut I really wanna cut it all the way down again😂 I can’t help it but I do want to get my mid back length back n healthy hair no chemicals no dye or damage I was doing good idk why I permed it 💔 maybe I should do a hair journey from day one again use my sister clippers n just go for it bc I was doing good got dammit 🫣 yes hair feels like a child bc that issh be hell trying to take it 😂😂😂😂😂 I think I got 4 d hair first to say it yes I believe we can go pass 4c bc that issh was Buffy the body thiccccah u hear me 🤫🤗🤣😂

THANK GOD this chile did NOT go to a Professional, because colored hair (even on Natural hair is Not healthy hair) and the professional would’ve at least suggested to wait to do the big chop, because the color needed to be completely gone in order to truly have healthy hair…she is truly post big chop In Shock. GOD please let her hair grow 6 inches over night.

So right now you’re like a shoulderblade length. If you were to dust/trim (.25”) your hair every 2-3 months, your hair will be about brastrap length (11”-12”) by next summer. Thats what I did when I was at that length and you’d be surprised!
